What Ajmer orders

A city of two faiths and many kitchens

Ajmer is home to the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and, a few kilometres away, the Brahma temple at Pushkar. The dargah is known for large deg cooking, and during the Urs families prepare sheer and zarda with a handful of Dakh (Raisin) and Pista Kernels. During Kartik Purnima the Pushkar fair brings pilgrims and sweet-sellers, and kheer with dry fruits is common.

The sohan halwa habit

Ajmer and nearby Beawar are known for sohan halwa and til-patti, which carry almonds and pistachio slivers. If you make your own, Badam Katran and Pista Katran save the cutting work. For a richer base, Jumbo Cashew (Kaju) grinds smoothly.

Winter dryness and summer dust

Ajmer is a semi-arid city, so nuts keep well, but dust and heat are the problem. Keep jars shut and out of the sun. Our dates collection has soft Medjool and drier Kharak for different uses.

Delivery and gifting

An Ajmer order usually reaches you in 1–3 days by courier, weighed to the gram and sealed airtight. The courier also reaches Pushkar, Beawar, Kishangarh and Nasirabad. For Diwali and wedding return gifts, see the dry fruit gift box. Orders start at ₹1,000 and every order ships free. Payment is online only. Try Ajwa Dates and Makhana (Fox Nut) alongside.

Why Ajmer ladoo are different. In the winter months, Ajmer homes make panjiri and gond ladoo from wheat flour, ghee and a mix of chopped nuts, often shared with neighbours in the lanes near Madar Gate. Lotus seeds and melon seeds go in too. Roast the nuts lightly before folding them into the flour so that the ladoo hold their shape and keep for weeks in a steel box. Buy the nuts whole and chop them at home, as pre-cut pieces stale faster. Around Dargah Bazaar and Naya Bazaar, shops stay busy before the Urs and again before Diwali, so ordering a week early avoids the rush on the courier. Students from Mayo College and Government College families also order small boxes for hostels. A mixed jar of cashew, raisins and pistachio makes an easy gift for neighbours.
