Quick answer
A diwali gift under 2000 is usually not for a whole office. It is for a handful of people who matter: the directors, the client who signs the biggest cheque, your in-laws. At this level the box is judged up close, so the rule changes. Fewer varieties, a higher grade, and a box that stays on the table.
Who is a gift at this level really for?
Three groups, mostly. Senior staff, where the gift has to sit comfortably above what the wider team received. Key clients, where it represents the company in someone else’s home or cabin. And family, especially in-laws and elders, where the gift is opened in front of other relatives and quietly compared.
All three share one thing. The person receiving it has probably been given a dry fruit box before, many times. What makes yours different is not size but quality: kaju that is whole and pale, badam that is plump, pista that is green rather than brownish.
Why fewer varieties at a higher budget?
It sounds backwards. More money, so more things in the box, surely. But a seven-item box at this level tends to look like a sampler, and every item gets a modest share. Four or five items in a top grade, each in a generous portion, looks like abundance.
Where the extra budget should go:
- Kaju: move up to Jumbo. The size difference is obvious the moment the lid comes off.
- Badam: swap to Mamra. It is smaller and oilier, and people who know almonds recognise it straight away.
- Pista: choose a good green kernel. The pista kernel guide explains what to look for.
- Khajur: Medjool dates. Soft, large and unmistakably premium; see how to judge a good khajur.
The Golden Heritage is a five-compartment flat tray with a green and gold border, and it looks generous on a table the moment it is opened. It suits in-laws and older relatives, and any home where the box will be passed round after dinner. Five compartments is the right number for a high grade: enough variety, no crowding.
Tray or suitcase: which suits whom?
| Recipient | Format | Box | Fill we would suggest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Director or senior partner | Jar suitcase | Royal Mosaic | Jumbo kaju, Mamra badam, pista, akhrot |
| Key client, carried home from the office | Jar suitcase | Royal Mosaic | Jumbo kaju, Mamra badam, Medjool, anjeer |
| In-laws or parents | Compartment tray | Golden Heritage | Kaju, badam, pista, anjeer, Medjool |
| A family that likes variety | Compartment tray | Porcelain Bloom | Kaju, badam, pista, akhrot, kishmish, seeds |
| The family doctor or CA | Compartment tray | Golden Heritage | Kaju, Mamra badam, pista, akhrot, apricots |
The pattern is simple. A suitcase travels well, so it suits someone who receives the gift at work and carries it home. A tray is opened and left out, so it suits a home that has guests over through the festive week.
The Royal Mosaic is the four-jar hard suitcase in mosaic print, with a brass handle and jars sitting on satin. It is the one offices pick when the gift has to look like something, and it suits directors and key clients best. The suitcase itself is kept long after Diwali.
The Porcelain Bloom is a six-compartment cream tray edged in blue and white flowers, with room for kishmish and seeds alongside the nuts. It suits a large joint family where different people like different things.
How personal should the card be?
As personal as the relationship. For in-laws, a line in your own words and both your names. For a client, two lines from the person who actually works with them, not from the company. For a senior colleague, mention one thing from the year. A printed corporate greeting at this level undoes much of the effect of the box.
When should you order?
Dispatch is within three working days of the order being settled, and most cities receive it two to six days later. Diwali is on 8 November, with Dhanteras on 6 November, so order roughly two weeks ahead of the day you want to hand the gift over. Buyers in Delhi NCR and Chennai can read the city pages, and the Diwali gifts page shows the full range.
Questions people ask
Is a tray or a suitcase better for in-laws?
A tray, usually. It is opened and set out for guests through the festive days, which is what most families do with a dry fruit gift at home.
Can different people in one order get different boxes?
Yes. Directors can get the suitcase and clients the tray in the same order, each with its own card text and delivery address.
Should I add more items to use the full budget?
Better to raise the grade. Jumbo kaju, Mamra badam and Medjool dates make a bigger difference than a sixth or seventh item.
