Quick answer

The badam price in Mumbai for a household buying online today is at today's shop rate for Californian almonds, and at today's shop rate for Mamra. The figures quoted from the APMC market at Vashi are trade rates for sacks of unsorted almonds, before packing and delivery, so they always look lower than what any home in Mumbai actually pays.

Why is the Vashi rate not your rate?

The APMC dry fruit market at Vashi in Navi Mumbai is where traders buy almonds by the sack, often 22.68 kg cartons of Californian in-shell or kernels, straight off the container. Rates reported from there are for that trade: unsorted, unpacked, and paid for by people who will clean, grade and repack them.

Between that sack and your kitchen, the almonds are sorted by size, cleaned of broken pieces and dust, packed in sealed food-grade pouches, and delivered. Each step costs something. When a news site prints “badam rate in Mumbai today” from a market report, it is quoting the start of that chain, not the end.

Prices also move with the California crop and the rupee. The Almond Board of California publishes crop estimates and shipment reports, and a short crop there shows up in Vashi a few weeks later. Our post on why dry fruit prices change explains the full cycle.

Which badam grades are sold in Mumbai?

Mumbai’s shops stock three broad families of almond. Here is how they compare:

Badam Where from Look and taste Best use
Californian (regular) USA Even, flat, light skin, mild Daily soaking, sweets, cooking
Californian (jumbo) USA Large, bold, even Guest bowls, gift jars
Mamra Iran, Afghanistan Small, curved, dark, oil-rich Morning soak, children, special use
Gurbandi Afghanistan Small, sweet, oily, uneven Soaking, for those who like a strong almond

Gurbandi is a small Afghan almond sold by a few specialists in Mumbai. We do not list it; if you like that oily, sweet character, Mamra is the closer match on our shelf. Our guide to the types of almonds in India covers each in more detail.

What is the price of 1 kg badam in Mumbai today?

For our grades, delivered to a Mumbai address:

  • Californian badam is the rate quoted at the top of this page. Regular Badam pack sizes are at today's shop rate.
  • Mamra badam is the second rate above, and both Mamra Regular and Mamra Jumbo are listed with their own pack sizes.
  • Jumbo almonds sit at the top of the Californian range, because only a small share of any crop grows that large.

All rates update with the market, so the figure you see on the page is the figure you pay at checkout, with no separate delivery charge on top. Compare that with a walk-in purchase where the rate is spoken, not printed, and differs between the morning and the evening. The full list is on our badam price page.

How do Mumbai homes usually buy badam?

In three ways, and each has its catch.

  1. The local kirana or dry fruit shop. Convenient, and you can see the almonds, but grade names vary from shop to shop, and stock can sit through the monsoon.
  2. A trip to Crawford Market or Vashi. Choice is wide, but a family-size purchase often gets the walk-in price, and the trip itself costs a morning.
  3. Online, by grade. You choose the exact grade and size, and it comes sealed to the door.

Mumbai’s humidity is the main reason to buy sealed packs and in month-sized amounts. Almonds left open in July soften and lose their snap. Our post on storing dry fruits through the Mumbai monsoon goes into the details.

Which badam should a Mumbai home buy?

For most families, Regular Californian for daily soaking and cooking, with a smaller pack of Mamra if anyone in the house prefers it in the morning. Jumbo is worth it for guest bowls during Diwali and wedding season. Two adults soaking seven almonds a day use about 250 g a month; add cooking and snacking and most homes use 500 g.

People searching the badam rate often check kaju and anjeer at the same time. Kaju today comes to at today's shop rate, and the rest of the shelf is on our buy dry fruits in Mumbai page.

How to order for a Mumbai home

A sensible monthly basket is 500 g Regular Badam, 500 g kaju and 250 g pista, which covers soaking, snacking and a sweet or two; orders start at ₹1,000 and every order ships free. What is the kaju price 1 kg in Mumbai?

It depends on grade. Large whole kernels cost more and broken pieces less. Our kaju price page lists each grade’s live rate, all delivered to Mumbai addresses.

What is the anjeer price in Mumbai?

Anjeer is priced by size, with jumbo figs at the top. Our anjeer price page shows today’s rate for each grade. Buy sealed packs in Mumbai, because figs absorb moisture quickly in humid weather.

Is badam cheaper at Vashi APMC?

The per-kilo trade rate at Vashi is lower, but it applies to sacks of unsorted almonds sold to traders. For a household quantity, sorted and packed, the gap closes, and you save the trip.
