Quick answer
The kaju price in Pune today, delivered to your door, is at today's shop rate across our grades, with broken kaju faad at the lower end and whole Super cashew higher up. For faral cooking, karanji filling and chivda need only the two-piece faad, while the guest plate and kaju katli look best with whole kernels.
What does kaju cost in Pune this season?
Kaju is priced by grade, not by city. What changes from shop to shop in Pune is which grade is on the counter and how fresh it is. The rate above is our live figure, the same whether you are in Kothrud, Baner, Hadapsar or Pimpri-Chinchwad, and delivery is included.
The two grades most Pune faral kitchens buy:
- Kaju faad, two-piece: clean halves split lengthwise, the cooking grade. Packs are at today's shop rate.
- Super cashew, whole: large, even kernels for the guest plate and gifting. Packs are at today's shop rate.
Every grade is listed on our kaju price page, and the full cashew collection includes broken tukda and flavoured kaju.
Which kaju grade suits each faral item?
Diwali faral, the tray of homemade snacks and sweets that Maharashtrian homes make and share, uses kaju in almost every item. Picking the right cut saves money without anyone noticing a difference on the plate.
| Faral item | Kaju grade | Typical quantity per batch |
|---|---|---|
| Karanji (gujiya) filling | Faad or tukda, chopped | 75 to 100 g for 40 karanjis |
| Poha chivda | Faad, fried whole halves | 100 g per kilo of chivda |
| Besan or rava ladoo | Faad, chopped | 50 to 75 g per kilo |
| Kaju katli | Faad or whole, ground | About 250 g for 500 g of katli |
| Anarse, shankarpali | Optional | A few for decoration |
| Guest plate | Super, whole | 250 to 500 g over the festival |
Karanji is the faral sweet that uses kaju most heavily in Pune homes, alongside coconut, khus khus and dry fruit, as the Wikipedia page on karanji describes.

How much kaju does a Pune faral kitchen need?
A family of four making the standard faral, chivda, karanji, two kinds of ladoo and chakli, usually needs:
- 500 g kaju faad for cooking.
- 250 to 500 g whole Super kaju for the guest plate and visitors.
- Another 250 g if kaju katli is on the list.
Households that make faral for married daughters and neighbours, which is common in Pune, often double this. Buying one kilo of faad and half a kilo of whole is the most common order in the last week of October.
What is the badam rate in Pune alongside it?
Badam goes into faral too: in ladoo, in shira, and soaked for the morning. Our badam rate today is at today's shop rate, delivered. Regular badam is the right choice for cooking and soaking; Mamra is a separate, costlier almond that many families keep only for children and elders.
How should you compare rates between Pune shops?
Compare like with like. When a shop on Laxmi Road or in your society market quotes a kaju rate, ask three questions before you decide. Which grade is it: whole W320, whole Super, two-piece faad or broken tukda? When was the lot packed? And is the price for loose kaju weighed in front of you, or a sealed pack? A rate that looks lower is very often a smaller or broken grade, which is perfectly fine for karanji but not for the guest plate. Once the grade matches, the gap between shops is usually small, and freshness becomes the real difference. A kaju that has sat in an open tin through a humid October will taste flat in a ladoo however good the price was.
How fast does an order reach Pune?
We dispatch within three working days of an order and most cities, Pune included, receive it two to six days after. Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November this year, and most faral cooking happens in the week before. Ordering by the end of October leaves a comfortable margin. Our buy dry fruits in Pune page has the city details.
Our orders start at ₹1,000 and every order ships free, and a faral basket crosses that easily: 1 kg kaju faad, 500 g regular badam and 250 g pista or kishmish. Students living in Pune away from home often split an order between two or three flatmates; our Pune hostel snacks post has ideas for that.
How do you check kaju before the cooking starts?
Before you start a big faral session, open the pack and check it:
- Ivory colour, with no grey or yellow patches.
- A sweet, nutty smell, never soapy or sharp.
- A clean snap when broken.
- Very little powder at the bottom.
Store what you are not using that week in the fridge, especially after the October heat, and keep the faad and whole kaju in separate jars so the guest-plate kernels stay unbroken. Mumbai families follow much the same faral list, covered in our Diwali faral dry fruits for Mumbai post.

Questions people ask
What is the cashew rate in Pune per kg?
It depends on the grade. Our live rate covers every grade from broken faad to whole Super, delivered to Pune, and is shown at the top of this page.
Which kaju is best for karanji?
Kaju faad or tukda, chopped. The filling hides the shape, so whole kernels only add cost.
What is the dry fruits rate in Pune for Diwali?
Rates are the same as anywhere we deliver, with free shipping on orders over the minimum. The kaju and badam rates above are live, and the price pages show every other dry fruit.
Can I get kaju delivered in Pimpri-Chinchwad?
Yes. Orders ship to addresses across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, with most arriving two to six days after dispatch.
Written at our counter, where these questions get asked every week.
