Quick answer

The anjeer rate in Indore depends on size: Jumbo anjeer, the large, soft, evenly dried figs, costs more per kilo than Regular, which is smaller but tastes the same. Most Indore homes soak two figs a day through winter, so 500 g lasts a couple about two months. Today’s live rate applies to every Indore pincode.

What does a kilo of anjeer cost in Indore today?

Across the grades we keep, anjeer works out to at today's shop rate today. Jumbo Anjeer sits at the top of that range and is priced at at today's shop rate by pack. Regular Anjeer sits lower. The full list, with every pack size, is on the anjeer price page.

The rate is the same whether the parcel goes to Vijay Nagar, Rajwada, Palasia, Bhawarkua or out to Rau and Mhow. It is set by the lot, not the address, and every pack is weighed and sealed on the day it ships.

Jumbo or Regular anjeer: which should an Indore home buy?

What you will do with it Jumbo Anjeer Regular Anjeer
Soak two a day, eat in the morning Softer, plumper after soaking Works well, smaller pieces
Gift box or guest plate The right choice; looks generous Looks ordinary beside kaju and pista
Anjeer barfi, anjeer rolls, milkshake Wasted in a blender The sensible choice
Winter laddoo with gond and dry fruits Not needed Chop and add
Children who eat them as a snack Easier to bite, fewer seeds felt Fine for older children

Both grades are the same fruit, dried the same way. Size and evenness are what you pay for. If the anjeer is going into a mixer, the extra for Jumbo buys nothing.

How many anjeer should you eat in a day, and how long does a pack last?

Most families settle on two to three dried figs a day per adult, usually soaked overnight in a little water and eaten in the morning, with the soaking water drunk too. One or two is enough for a child. At that pace:

  • One adult, two a day: about 300 g a month.
  • A couple, two a day each: about 500 to 600 g a month.
  • A family of four with two children: roughly 750 g to 1 kg a month.

Dried figs are dense in fibre and minerals. USDA FoodData Central lists about 249 kcal, 10 g of fibre, 162 mg of calcium and 2 mg of iron per 100 g of dried figs, and roughly 48 g of natural sugar, which is why two or three a day is plenty. If you are managing blood sugar, speak to your doctor about how many suit you. Our note on soaked anjeer covers the morning routine.

How do you spot good anjeer?

Indore buyers know their markets, and these are the checks worth making anywhere, from Sarafa to an online order:

  • Colour: light golden brown to tan. Very dark figs are old or over-dried.
  • Feel: soft and pliable. A fig that is rock hard has lost its moisture.
  • Surface: a light white bloom is natural sugar, not mould. Fuzzy or green patches are mould.
  • Smell: sweet and fruity. A sour or fermented smell means it has spoiled.
  • Inside: tear one open. It should be clean, with no webbing or insects.

Our longer guide on how to buy anjeer has photos of each, and in Indore’s humid monsoon, store anjeer in the fridge in a sealed jar.

How does Indore use anjeer in winter?

Malwa winters are short and cold, and the kitchen responds with laddoos. Gond laddoo, methi laddoo and dry fruit laddoo all welcome chopped anjeer, and many families make a batch in late November that lasts the season. Anjeer also goes into the milkshakes that the Chhappan Dukan stalls sell all year. The Malwa winter laddoos guide has quantities for one batch.

A simple home anjeer shake needs four soaked figs, a glass of cold milk and a few kaju, blended smooth; no sugar is needed because the figs carry their own sweetness. Regular Anjeer is the right grade for this, and 250 g makes about seven or eight glasses.

What are the kaju and pista rates in Indore?

Anjeer rarely travels alone. Across the grades, kaju works out to at today's shop rate today, and pista comes to at today's shop rate today. Indore families who buy anjeer usually add badam too; our earlier post on the badam rate in Indore covers that, and the Indore page has city delivery details.

Our orders start at ₹1,000 and every order ships free. A sensible Indore winter basket is 500 g of Jumbo Anjeer, 500 g of kaju and 250 g of pista kernels, which covers a family’s morning soak and the guest bowl for the month. We dispatch within three working days, and most Indore addresses receive it two to six days later.
